<p>The apparatus comprises an extrusion station in which a tubular parison is extruded from a fixed extruder head, a blow moulding station including a blowing mandrel pin, and a pair of mould sections laterally movable between the extrusion station and the blow moulding station and adapted to close about the parison extruded from the extruder head. A pair of mating hopper sections are connected beside the respective mould sections for lateral movement and closing and opening operation simultaneously with the mould sections. After completion of formation of each hollow plastic article, such as a bottle, the mould sections as well as the hopper sections are open and the mould section moves to the extrusion station, carrying the hopper sections beneath and into vertical alignment with the blow moulding station. After closing the mould in the extrusion station, a neck scrap portion remaining on the tip of the blowing mandrel is sheared off by any suitable means and falls into the closed hopper. The neck scrap is separated and received by the hopper is released into an ejector chute when the mould sections have again moved to and opened in the blowing station.</p> |
