The press stud is for fastening trim panels e.g. in motor vehicles, and has a head whose periphery has the shape of two partly overlapping circles or ellipses whose intersection forms a narrow part of the otherwise elongate head. The edge of the head remote from the actual clip part may be radiused. The head may be strengthened at the part medially between its ends, i.e. in the region of the narrow part, by being made progressively thicker towards the medial part. The shape of the head facilitates manual pressing of the stud into operative position.
