Lighting device for darkened rooms such as cinema or theatre halls, or the like. This device consists of an optical tube 4 set on the ground along each row of chairs 3, illuminated by a light box 1 comprising at least one lamp 2, the said tube being placed in a reflector which allows, over the whole length of the optical tube 4, a light beam to pass, which beam is directed towards the front of the chair 3 and extending from the floor level to approximately 45 DEG upwards. <IMAGE>
