PURPOSE: To provide a battery electrode with high capacity and high performance by using a carbonaceous material obtained by setting a polyacrylonitrile carbon body having a specified element weight ratio of nitrogen content to carbon content to a specified length. CONSTITUTION: After acryl fiber is subjected to a frame resisting treatment, it is baked for 5 seconds - 10 minutes at about 1000-1500 deg.C to provide a highly amorphous polyacrylonitrile having a N/C value of 0.07-0.22. This carbon body is crushed to an average length not more than 5mm. A battery electrode with high capacity, particularly, an electrode suitable for secondary battery can be formed by use of the resulting carbonaceous material. |
