PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device by which a frame still picture with high definition can be obtained while suppressing increase in a circuit scale for realization of an inter-frame interpolation. SOLUTION: In place of generating an interpolation signal by providing a field memory and a frame interpolation circuit to each of a luminance signal and color difference signals, one field memory and one frame interpolation circuit are provided to generate the interpolation signal. That is, LPFs 402, 403 are used to separate the luminance component and the color difference components. The luminance component is given to a mean value interpolation circuit 406, where a mean value of two lines is obtained to generate the interpolation signal. It is fed to an adder 408. On the other hand, the color difference components are given to a selector 407, which selects a signal coincident with a color difference signal of a line to be interpolated in the two-line signals, the selected signal is fed to an adder 408, in which a required signal of the interpolated line is produced.
