Lifting machinery for a lift, comprising a disc-shaped stator chassis 2 resting against a guide 1 positioned in the lift shaft, a disc-shaped rotor body and a driving disc 3 forming a solid unit, the driving disc being journalled such that it may rotate relative to the stator body, magnetising devices resting against the rotor body, such as permanent magnets, stator windings resting against the stator body and also a bracing structure 4 extending across the stator body essentially in the direction of the guide. In the embodiment according to the invention, at least one mass body 5 is connected to the stator body such that its mass distribution and/or bending stiffness becomes essentially asymmetric.
