PURPOSE: To enable detecting the size of a photographic original while keeping detecting performance of the character original for forming an image as it is, and prolonging the life of a light emitting source for detecting the size. CONSTITUTION: The first cover plate detection sensor 5 disposed on a device main body 1 is turned on when an opening angle formed by the original cover plate 2 and the original platen 3 becomes θ1, and the second cover plate detection sensor 6 is turned on when the opening angle becomes θ2 (θ1>θ2). The light quantity of the light emitting source 7 is made large after the first cover plate detection sensor 5 is turned on until the second cover plate detection sensor 6 is turned on, and made small thereafter. Detection contents of the first cover plate detection sensor 5 is made into the original size only when the photographic mode is selected, and the detection contents of the second cover plate detection sensor 6 is made into the original size excepting the said time. The original size detection is performed by irradiating the original on the original platen 3 with the light from the light emitting source 7 of the original size sensor 4, and judging the presence or absence of the reflected light by output of a photodetector 8. |
