<p>PURPOSE: To increase hydrogenation activity by forming a catalyst containing a specific quantity of each of silica, active nickel and a group II metal low in atomic number in periodic table and having fine pores having a specific surface area and a specific particle diameter. CONSTITUTION: Nickel ion is continuously precipitated from a salt solution, if necessary containing the cation of the group II metal X low in atomic number using excess alkaline precipitant for 20-120 sec retention time in a stirring reaction vessel. Next, the nickel catalyst containing the cation of the group H metal X low in atomic number in period table is produced by continuously adding an aq. silicate solution in a 2nd reaction vessel while keeping the retention time 40-300 sec to recover the precipitate and after drying, performing reduction treatment. An unsaturated organic compound is efficiently hydrogenated using the catalyst.</p> |
