PURPOSE: To obtain a physiologically active substance compound exhibiting excellent physiological activity and useful for prevention, treatment, etc., for diseases caused by microorganisms, fungi and cancer cells as an antibacterial agent, an antitumor agent, etc., by culturing a microorganism comprising a fungus having FR 183783 substance-producing ability. CONSTITUTION: This FR 183783 as a new physiologically active substance is obtained by inoculating Fungus strain No.11288 classified as a fungus having FR 183783 substance-producing ability into a culture medium, carrying out shaking culture in 250rpm at 25 deg.C for 4 days by a rotary shaker to produce FR 183783 substance and extracting the cultured product with an organic solvent and subjecting the extract to silica gel column chromatography to purify the substance. The substance is a powdery neutral substance of pale yellow, has -497 deg. (C=1.0: methanol) specific rotation [α]<23> D and exhibits color reaction which is positive to iodine vapor reaction, cerium sulfate-sulfuric acid reaction, Ehrlich's reaction and Dragendorff reaction and negative to Molisch reaction, ninhydrin reaction and ferric chloride and is useful as an antimicrobial agent, antitumor agent, etc. |
