The basic garment is produced on a one cylinder round knitting machine as a tube of small diameter at the ends which are tightly knitted, increasing in diameter towards the middle and with either the same tension or slightly less as required. The centre portion is again rather tightly knitted with the exception of the cups which are formed by lessening the tension and using a more open stitch. The use of rubber or plastic such as polyurethane or polyamide produces the necessary elasticity. |
