PURPOSE:To prevent a blocking phenomenon from occurring and prevent an ink ribbon from being caught or cut in use, by a system wherein an ink ribbon cassette enclosing a large width ink ribbon therein is provided with a ribbon- cooling means, and the ink ribbon heated at the time of printing is taken up after being cooled. CONSTITUTION:A thermally conductive metallic roll 18 constituting a ribbon- cooling means 17 is projectedly provided on a carriage cover (b), and the main body 11 of the cassette is provided with a roll passing hole 19 in correspondence with the roll 18. The roll 18 makes contact with a base of an ink ribbon when the main body 11 is fitted to the cover (b). This example shows a contact-type one. In a non-contact type, a jet nozzle 22 capable of being connected to a connecting terminal (c) of a flexible tube 21 is provided in a head-fitting recessed part 14 of the main body, a side wall 14' of the recessed part 14 is provided with a through-hole 23, and cool air flow generated by a fan 20 is directed to the ink ribbon 10 through the nozzle 22. |
