[Also in Division H2] A machine for cutting four slits, as 17a, 17b, 18a<SP>1</SP>, 18b<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, in a strip 43 comprises a fixed part 41, Fig. 4, having a parallel-sided slot 45 over which the strip 43 passes, and a movable cutter 51 above the slot which, when depressed, cuts the four slits simultaneously. The cutter comprises a block having a V-shaped opening 56, Fig. 5a, the edges of this opening and the corresponding edges of slot 45 forming the cutting edges. A wedge-shaped guide 60 disposed beneath the strip 43 is mounted on the cutter. The strip 43 may comprise paper, polyester material, or a laminated combination of both. |
