The invention comprises compounds of the Formula (I) wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each a hydrogen atom or a CHR<SP>3</SP>COOH radical, where R<SP>3</SP> is a hydrogen atom or a methyl or ethyl radical and C 12 H 25 is a lauryl radical or a mixture of C 8-18 alkyl radicals the average number of carbon atoms in the alkyl radical being twelve. They are prepared by reacting a C 12 H 25 halide with diethylenetriamine and chlorobenzyl chloride and, if desired, reacting the product with anα-haloaliphatic acid containing 2 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkali metal salt thereof. The compounds of Formula (I) have disinfectant, preservative and detergent properties.</p> |
