PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an ink cartridge larger and complicated in shape easily with the smallest number of components, by welding and integrating the wall of an ink storage compartment and one surface of a lid by frictional heat produced by vibration. SOLUTION: A lid 3 is set in an upper jig and a container 2, of which an ink cartridge is composed, is set in a lower jig. During a welding process, the upper jig is vibrated with the container 2 and lid 3 being in contact with each other. Consequently friction occurs at a joint 5 between the lid 3 and container 2, and the lid 3 and container 2 melt by frictional heat produced at the time. The upper jig presses the lid 3 to the container 2 at specific pressure, and with progress of melting the lid 3 and container 2 are welded together to a specific positional relationship. The vibration stops after the welding proceeds to the specific position and, in this condition, the temperature of the welded part decreases, and the jigs are fixed in the positions until they are resolidified. It is preferable that the vibration be set to 100-500Hz, in order to make the process more stable. |
