Apparatus has a reforming device producing hydrogen rich gas from hydrocarbon fuel and air and supplying a fuel cell, which comprises temperature and measurement sensors. The measurement sensor measures the characteristics of the air supplying the device. A determination module determines electrical voltage of the cell from values measured by the sensors. Another measurement sensor measures electrical quantities at the output of the cell, and a closed control loop is constituted by a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and a measured quantity feedback loop (32). An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling a power module.
