PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for paper treating agents, etc. industrially and advantageously, by using a specific organotin compound as a catalyst in the ester interchange of a lower alkyl (meth)acrylate with an alkylaminoalcohol. CONSTITUTION:In preparing the aimed compound useful as a raw material for cationic high polymeric flocculants or textile treating agents in addition to those described above by the ester interchange of a lower alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, particularly methyl or ethyl ester, with an alkylaminoalcohol expressed by the formula[R<1> and R<2> are 1-8C alkyl, R<1> is further H; (n) is an integer 1-4], an organotin compound expressed by the formula R3Sn-OH (R is 1-12C alkyl or phenyl), preferably triphenyltin hydroxide, is used as a catalyst to give the aimed compound advantageously in a high catalytic activity with suppressed side reactions. |
