PURPOSE:To secure the acceleration responsiveness at the time of quick accelera tion, and prevent the speed change shock at the time of gradual acceleration by controlling the time for speed change so as to be changed in the direction of shortening the time for speed change as a load increase rate becomes larger at the time of the down-shift speed change in accordance with load increase of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A controller 160 controls various solenoid valves 49, 71, 75, 80, 103, 144, 145 for controlling the line pressure, for changing speed, for adjusting the connecting pressure, and for controlling lock-up on the basis of various detecting signal from various sensors 161-168 for detecting the operation condition of an engine respectively. In this case, the controller 160 detects the engine load on the basis of each detecting signal, and computes the load increase rate based on the detected load. Furthermore, the controller 160 controls the time for speed change so as to be changed in the direction of shortening the time for speed change as the load increase rate becomes larger at the time of down-shift speed change in accordance with load increase of the engine. Excellent variable speed control reflecting the acceleration intension of a driver is thereby performed. |
