A steel or bronze plate 5, Fig. 1, carries hooked conductor wires 6, 7 fixed in glass sleeves 8 and on the plate is placed an aluminium ring 10 between the glass sleeves, the ring being of square or round crosssection. A flanged sleeve 11 is placed loosely over each wire 6 with a sheet of solder 12 on top of the sleeve and a leg 13 of a contactor on top of the solder, the solder and leg preferably being apertured to receive the wire 6 so that the ring 10 locates the leg relative to the plate. A second aluminium spacer ring 14 is placed on the leg 13 and a second sleeve 15, sheet of solder 16 and contactor 17 are applied to each wire 7 so that the contactor 17 is located in spaced relation to the leg 13. A third aluminium ring 21 is arranged between the contactor 17 and a contactor leg 18 connected by a resilient U- member to the leg 13 and a fourth aluminium ring 22 is placed on the leg 18. A sleeve 23 and sheet of solder 24 and a contactor 25 are applied to the wire 7 and a fifth aluminium ring 26 is placed on the contactor 25. One or more clamping members 27 are applied to the stack of elements and the assembly is soldered in an infra-red oven, the clamps 27 and ring 26 are removed and the remaining assembly is placed in a bath of caustic soda to erode away the aluminium rings 10, 12, 21, and 22. |
