摘要 1,272,926. Powder fuel cell electrodes. SIEMENS A.G. 26 May, 1970 [13 June, 1969], No. 25297/70. Heading H1B. A powder electrode for a fuel cell comprises an inactive layer covering a bed of catalytic powder disposed so that the size of the particles increases with depth. The covering layer may be either asbestos, optionally consolidated with a binder or an ion-exchange resin. The catalyst may be Raney nickel or silver, tungsten carbide or carbon powder, optionally including cobalt and/or manganese oxides. The electrode may be prepared by inserting a nickel grid current collector 5 between screw-threaded tube 1 of polymethyl methacrylate and base 3, subjecting the catalyst particles to a vacuum treatment to remove air, suspending them in distilled water, pouring the suspension on to grid 5, agitating it, allowing it to settle and removing the liquid through duct 4. In examples, the electrode is used as a hydrogen, oxygen or air electrode in KOH or H 2 SO 4 electrolyte. In Example 5, an oxygen electrode according to the invention is combined with a hydrazine electrode.
