PURPOSE:To positively hold a large quantity of plate work groups as well as to transfer the without entailing any packing looseness, by pressing these plate work groups to a sense of compressing them, while holding each edge surface by means of vacuum adsorption. CONSTITUTION:A hand part 6 is made to go down till a pad 21 is fitted in the opening edge inside of a corrugated fiberboard box 67 and approached to an edge surface of a carton 62 group to be formed with an upper edge of this carton 62, and an adsorption surface of an adsorption device is driven. If so, a hollow part of an adsorption device body 16 comes to negative pressure whereby the carton 62 group is drawn up, and the edge surface comes into a suction state to the pad 21. After the state that this carton 62 group is fully drawn up to the pad 21 is detected by a vacuum switch detecting the negative pressure inside the absorption device body 16, a rod 33 of air cylinders 29 and 29 is advanced forward, closing claws 28 and 28, and both ends of the carton 62 group is pressed a sense of compressing the carton 62 group.
