PURPOSE:To obtain a glass-form carbon type separator for fuel cell which has a sufficient durability even at the thickness less than 0.2mm by specifying the thickness, the porousness rate, and the inherent maximum bore diameter. CONSTITUTION:This separator for fuel cell made of a glass-form carbon material has the feature of the porousness rate less than 5% and the inherent maximum bore diameter less than 30mum at the thickness within the scope 0.05-0.20mm. As a result, even though some electrolytic oxidization is generated on the material surface owing to a nonporous structure condition in the practical phase, no condition to develop a pinhole leakage is generated. Consequently, no damage is generated in the cell assembly even in a very thin type less than 0.2mm, and a separator for fuel cell generating no gas leakage in the cylinder, and securing an excellent durability and a stable operation can be obtained. |
