PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine that is improved so as to restrain a trouble of an accessory such as a button or the like getting caught by an auxiliary table and to be advantageous to smooth sewing even in a case where an accessory such as a button or the like is sewn to an object of sewing such as a fabric or the like to be placed on the surface of a bed portion. SOLUTION: The sewing machine has a subsidiary cover 3. The subsidiary cover 3 is connected to the other end 10c of a bed portion 10 of a housing 1 and can form an auxiliary table 5. The front 3f of the subsidiary cover 3 that faces a user and the front 10f of the bed portion 10 of the housing 1 that faces the user are mutually extended through the boundary of both, and is considered to be an appropriate amount of projection in the direction of movement of an object of sewing. The rear 3r of the subsidiary cover 3 that turns its back to the user and the rear 10r of the bed portion 10 that turns its back to the user are mutually extended through the boundary of both and is considered to be an appropriate amount of projection in the direction of movement of the object of sewing.
