A dummy shuttle 11, or weft inserting rod, has at least two adjustably spring loaded. grippers 16, 18 which grip the weft sufficiently tightly to take it across the loom but through which the weft may be drawn when the weft is clamped at the inserting side of the shed, the gripper 16 exerting more force than the gripper 18-so that the weft release is is gradual and the weft does not spring back into the shed. More than two force-graduated grippers may be provided and one gripper may be of bristle or pile fabric. |
