The process relates to the concentration of minerals and applies to an automatic flotation process and plant. In the process, a slag in a flotation cell is supplied with gas, the concentration slag froth is peeled off from the surface, the surface level in the cell is observed and water is added so that the surface level is kept constant. In addition, the dry weight of the concentration slag is determined during the test without any filtering of the product. A chemical analysis of the concentration can also be made immediately. A full picture of the test process can thus quickly be obtained and, if so desired, control measures can be implemented during the test. The invention can be used to conduct flotation tests in laboratories.
