alpha -(Hydroxy and alkoxy substituted)phenyl- alpha -(2-piperidinyl)methanols of the formula WHERE R is hydrogen or lower alkyl, R1 is hydrogen, hydroxy or lower alkoxy, and R2 is phenyl, phenyl-lower alkyl, diphenyl-lower alkyl, phenoxy-lower alkyl or diphenoxy-lower alkyl, and the non-toxic pharmaceutically acceptable acid-addition and quaternary ammonium salts thereof.
