Polishing spindle with active magnetic bearing

The polishing spindle has a drive motor in magnetic bearings which take up radial and axial forces. The position and the pressing force of the motor shaft carrying the polishing tool can be influenced in the radial and axial directions. The radial and axial magnetic bearings are electrically stimulated so that the shaft bearing can be set to an approximately null deviation with respect to the geometric centre of the bearing.
