Tension wrapped unit (10), comprising parallelepiped-shaped pack(s) (12), is produced by disposing a pusher clamp (13) adjacent side panels (18,19) and the back panel of the array and pushing it towards a plastic outer packaging material (20) comprising two sheets of sealed-together film extending beyond its transverse limits. The plastic outer packaging material is disposed adjacent front, top, and bottom panels (16,14,15) of the array which is maintained in a fixed position by the action of a pusher plate (23) and because it rests on a base plate (22), the pusher clamp being retracted and guide rollers (24) ensuring that the material is disposed adjacent the back panel. The array is compressed in a compression direction (C) by the pusher clamp and compressed in a perpendicular direction by the pusher plate, the plastic outer packaging material extending beyond the transverse limits of the array being disposed adjacent its remaining side panels (18,19 ). |
