PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the prevalence of almost identical shape and decoration, poor appearance in an altar for domestic use if applied in the case of funeral held at a larger site while a larger-scale altar is too large to be used at other sites and expensive eventually because of failed flexible use-shortcomings as noted in the conventional altars. SOLUTION: Railings are installed on both sides across the width of the body of a staircase-shaped altar in which a number of stages are built so as to gradually ascend to the inner upper position from the foreground and lanterns are mounted on the railings. The widths of the stages and railings are made narrower gradually toward the upper inner position from the foreground. The railings are made to curve gradually toward the upper inner position and ascend from the foreground. Each lantern contains a lighting lamp, and the body of the altar, the railings and the lanterns are so arranged to be free to assemble or disassemble.
