PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strainer apparatus which is adaptive to bidirectional flow and does not stop supply of water even during back wash and in clogging. SOLUTION: Filters 2 are interposed in two flow paths 3a connecting an inflow chamber 3 and an outflow chamber 4, casings 1 each formed with a discharge port 8 is interposed in flowing water pipes P. One opening of a T-shaped pipe 11 opened in three ways is connected respectively to the inflow chamber 3 and the outflow chamber 4, the other two openings are provided respectively with check valves 20 and 30 for allowing only a corresponding flow direction to constitute three-way valves 11a and 11b, and the respective flowing water pipes P are connected to the two openings. By a partition plate 14 rotatably provided in the inflow chamber 3, the inflow and outflow chambers 3 and 4 are communicated through one flow path 3a, the outflow chamber 4 is communicated to the discharge port 8 through the other flow path 3a, and the discharge port 8 and the outflow chamber 4 are communicated by a bypass pipe 18 through a bypass valve 13. In such a manner, the strainer apparatus is adaptive to the bidirectional flow, flowing water is secured in one flow path 3a even during the back wash the other flow path 3a, and water can be supplied urgently through the bypass pipe 18.
