In a speed measuring toy (10) which comprises a gate (11) comprising a couple of legs (11a, 11b) and a coupler portion (11c) which couples the legs, the gate has a passing opening (16) through which a moving member (17) passes. A detecting device (12) comprises first and second detectors (12A, 12B) which are positioned with a predetermined distance between the first and second detectors in a direction of movement of the moving member. A computing unit (13) computes a speed datum in response to first and second detecting signals from the first and second detectors. LCD (14) displays the speed datum from the computing unit.
