PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink unit for ink jet recording which has a high water resistance, gives a print not accompanied by ink blur, is excellent in color developing properties, can give an abrasion-resistant colored image, and can reproduce a colored image distinctly and stably on plain paper and to provide an ink jet recording method using the same. SOLUTION: This ink unit contains a pigment, a high-molecular dispersant, and water as the essential ingredients. The black ink of the invention contains a black pigment and a high-molecular dispersant having carboxyl groups or their salt groups (e.g. acrylate or methacrylate groups), and the colored ink contains a colored pigment and a high-molecular dispersant having sulfo groups or their salt groups (e.g. vinylsulfonate, naphthalenesulfonate, or styrenesulfonate groups). The ink unit is used for recording by delivering ink drops through an orifice according to record signals. |
