PURPOSE: To obtain a nonwoven web useful as a diaper or a wound treating article, having a liquid absorbing inclination and constructed so that it absorbs and collects water from a water source, by laying a superabsorbent fiber and another fiber of different densities from each other. CONSTITUTION: This web is obtained by blending about 25-75 wt.% of a superabsorbent fiber formed from a heat-curable aqueous composition consisting of (A) 90-99 wt.% of a copolymer consisting of 25-75 mol% of an ethylene unit which is substituted with a 20-80% neutralized carboxylic acid and 75-20 mol% copolymerizing monomer unit, and (B) 10-1 wt.% of at least one unreacted compound, and about 25-75 wt.% of a supplementary fiber, and air-laying the blend. The supplementary fiber has density differing from the density of the superabsorbent fiber by about 0.2 g/cc, and it is preferably a polyester or the like. |
