PURPOSE:To sterilize bacteria bonded to a filter material by allowing a water purifying tank packed with a filter material to communicate with an electrolytic cell separating tap water into alkaline ion water and acidic ion water on the downstream side of sad cell and passing only acidic ion water separated from the electrolytic cell through a water purifying tank if necessary. CONSTITUTION:Tap water flows in a box-shaped tank main body 11 from a tap water connection port 12 to pass through the gap between electrodes 15,16 and flows out of an alkaline ion water outflow port 13 and an acidic ion water outflow port 14. When voltage is preliminarily applied across the electrodes at the time of the passage of tap water through the gap between the electrodes, the tap water receives the action of an electric field and acidic ion water us moved toward the anode 15 while alkaline ion water is moved to the cathode 16 and the acidic ion water flows out of the alkaline ion water outflow port 14 provided on the side of the anode 15 and the alkaline ion water flows out of the alkaline ion water outflow port 13 provided on the side of the cathode 16.
