PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair tonic, composed of a specific plant extract and having excellent falling-off preventing effect and growth stimulating effect on hair. SOLUTION: This hair tonic contains an extract of Cabe Jawa, belonging to Piperaceae and used as a folk medicine or a crude medicine in Indonesia, as an active component. The compounding amount of the extract is 0.005-20wt.% based on the whole amount of the hair tonic in terms of a dry matter. The extract is prepared by extracting Cabe Jawa, as it is or after drying if necessary and in the shape as it is or crushed, with a solvent such as ethanol. The extract is formulated to a tonic, a hair cream, a mousse, a shampoo, a rinse, etc., by adequately compounding the extract with a known additive. The hair tonic has falling-off preventing effect and hair growth stimulating effect superior to a pepper on a mammal including a human. |
