Liquid fuel to be supplied to the fuel tank(s) of a vehicle or an aircraft is degassed by spraying it into a chamber maintained at a reduced pressure by virtue of the continuous pumping of gas from the chamber, the degassed fuel being transferred from the chamber to the fuel tank(s). The fuel is pref. sprayed into the top of a cylindrical chamber via a whirl chamber type pressure atomizer arranged to produce fuel droplets which are of mean dia. 100-1000 mu to minimize the amount of fuel carried away with the released gas.
