PURPOSE:To stable motor speed control by making the proportional gain of a speed controller variable according to the magnitude of the moment of inertia of a load applied to a motor. CONSTITUTION:At the place such as, e.g. a process line, where a high accuracy tension control is required, various sections are in a line and distances between rolls 7 for carrying a strip 8 are also various. Consequently, a load applied to each motor 5 varies with every roll 7 and its moment of inertia also varies naturally so that the speed response of each load changes and a change of tension occurs at the time of acceleration and deceleration of said line to press said strip 8 or cause the strip to move in a zigzag direction in the worst case. Therefor, the proportional gain of the speed controller of said motor 5 is made alterable from the outside and the proportional gain of said speed controller is made variable according to the magnitude of the moment of inertia of the load being applied presently. Thus, the speed response of said load can be made almost constant independent of a change of the magnitude of the moment of inertia of the load so that the stable speed control of said motor 5 can be performed. |
