PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical spatial transmission device which can prevent the occurrence of a communication fault owing to the disturbance of communication environment and a communication fault owing to the excess change of received light intensity. SOLUTION: A transmission means 32 having an encoding means 14 and a light emission means 15, a reception means 33 having a light reception means 17 arranged to receive a light signal arriving from the prescribed direction of an external space and a part of light signals emitted from the light emission means 15 and having a decoding means 16, an abnormality display means 22 and a control means 39 which inputs inputted transmission data to the encoding means 14, and outputs data outputted from the decoding means 16 as reception data 27 at a use mode and inputs test data to the encoding means 14, judges whether a device 3 normally operates or not from the collation result of data outputted from the decoding means 16 with test data and operates the abnormality display means 22 when the device is not normally operated at a test mode are provided.
