PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen oxide removing method reducing at least a part of nitrogen oxide, especially, nitrogen monoxide, nitrogen dioxide or nitrous oxide contained in exhaust gas or pollution gas at low temp. containing room temp. in the noncoexistence of oxygen without using a noble metal such as Pt or Rh to remove the same. SOLUTION: An activated carbon material having alkali metal supported thereon is heat-treated at 500-l500 deg.C in an atmosphere not containing oxygen and this modified activated carbon material is held without being brought into contact with oxygen. Raw material gas containing nitrogen oxide and not containing oxygen or raw material gas containing carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide along with nitrogen oxide and not containing oxygen is brought into contact with the modified activated carbon material to reduce at least a part of nitrogen oxide in the raw material gas. |
