PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel production method for producing isoprene using non-edible biomass as a raw material.SOLUTION: According to the invention, provided is a production method of isoprene characterized by culturing a transformant obtained by introducing an isoprene synthase gene into a basidiomycete using lignocellulose derived from non-edible biomass as a carbon source, the isoprene synthase gene possessing optimized codons to express isoprene synthase in the basidiomycete. According to the invention, since it becomes possible to synthesize isoprene biochemically using lignocellulose as a carbon source, the efficient production of isoprene with non-edible biomass, such as a woody biomass and herb biomass, as a raw material becomes possible without depending on edible biomass having cost and moral problems.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
