Cable cording machine with strands twisted in alternate direction - has twisting disc increasing speed shortly before and after change of direction

A cable cording machine is used where the strands are alternately twisted in one direction and then in the other at given intervals. The length of twist in each direction is constant along the entire length and the machine can handle both telecommunication and heavy current cables. The strands are fed separately and are conveyed along a system of rollers. During the twisting process, the speed of the twisting disc is increased shortly before the direction of rotation is changed. The change of direction takes place at the increased speed. The speed is then reduced to the normal value. Speed control is effected by a programmed device which regulates the speed in 4 quadrants.
