The device is positioned above eye height of the vehicle driver. The axis of the lights (L1,L2) is rotatable in the vertical surface. By rotation in the vertical surface, the stop criterion is realised in that at the desired parking place the driver observes the lights as coinciding. The flat mirror (S) is located in front of or against the rear wall of the garage and at a distance (d) from the foremost light source (L1). The line on which the light sources are located is directed downwards at an angle (A), so that the eye of the driver is on a line with the lights as the car is positioned at the required place (P) at a distance (a) from the rear wall of the garage.
