The connector system allows a coupling to be made with either an ac or a dc electrical supply. The unit consists of an ac plug 1, a dc plug and an adapter 3. Th ac plug has a housing formed by two shells 11 and into this is installed a rectifier 12. A similar construction is provided for an dc plug. Pins project 121 from one end that fit into a power socket. The adapter also has a two part housing and into this is installed a voltage stabiliser 32 and this has contact arms 321 to engage the plug. A load 4, eg a mobile telephone can be plugged into the adapter.
