Knitting machine with needle selection. The needles are brought against the rear ends of strikers moving the needles, and stops can be moved into two positions, in one of which the rear end of the striker is missed, and in the other of which it is struck, the stops being selected by electromagnets, to which control impulses are fed. The impulses are generated by a selection device in dependence on a pattern stored on an information carrier which contains information on the position of the stops. Information is stored for more than one pattern, and the sets of information each form a pattern row per group, each group of information being arranged so that the individual groups can be scanned cyclically.
