摘要

N,N'-bis(3-aminophenyl)urea cpds. of formula (I) in which R = 1-6C linear or branched alkyl gp. which may be in the 2-, 4-and/or 6-position, are prepd. by reacting the corresponding phenylenediamine cpd. with urea in a mol ratio of greater than 2:1 in water as solvent. Pref. the alkyl substituent is in the 4- and/or 6-position, and is esp. a methyl gp. Pref. the mol. ratio m-phenylenediamine to urea used is greater than 3:1.
