MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium showing good electromagnetic conversion characteristics and excellent head sliding characteristics even under conditions of high relative speed of the magnetic recording medium to a magnetic head. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has at least one layer of a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic alloy powder essentially comprising Fe dispersed in a binder on a support. The proportion of Co to Fe in the ferromagnetic alloy powder is 2 to 8 at.%, and the amt. of Al in the ferromagnetic alloy powder is larger than the amt. of Co. The proportion of rare earth elements in the ferromagnetic powder to Fe is >=1 at.%.
