PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission reducing clogging of a filter to eliminate foreign matters in a lubricant supplied to a power roller bearing. SOLUTION: In the toroidal continuously variable transmission, an outer peripheral surface of an outer ring 28 and a guide surface section 120 of a trunnion 15 are brought into contact with each other when tangential force acts on a power roller 11, and pressing force is transmitted from an input disk to an output disk so that the power roller 11 rolls on the guide surface section 120. Thus, a recessed section S is arranged on the outer ring 28 in the structure of the toroidal continuously variable transmission, and an oil filter 210 is installed on the recessed section S.
