PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in the presence of a catalyst industrially obtained at a low cost at a high reaction rate and in a high synthesis yield by reacting metal silicon with a specific alkyl alcohol in the presence of a specific catalyst in an inactive reaction solvent. SOLUTION: This method for producing an alkoxysilane comprises reacting (A) granular metal silicon preferably having a purity of >=80% and an average granule diameter of >=2 mm with (B) a 1-4C alkyl alcohol (e.g. methanol) in the presence of (C) a catalyst (e.g. cuprous chloride produced by a dry method) activated in a linear alkylbenzene together with the component A preferably at 100-350 deg.C in (D) an inactive reaction solvent. Concretely, for example, a linear alkyl benzene, the component A and a catalyst are charged in a reactor, and subsequently heated to activate the catalyst (component C). The component A is reacted with the component B blown into the reactor in the presence of the activated catalyst in the linear alkylbenzene as the component D. |
