Detoxification

A process which comprises treating hazardous waste with an aluminium silicate or aluminosilicate and with a Portland cement in the presence of water to form a slurry and allowing the slurry to set into rock and a crystal matrix having encapsulated therein a hazardous waste and having a permeability of less than 1 x 10-4 cm. sec-1 and a compressive strength 28 days after preparation of 100 to 1000 psi.
