Collecting attachment for finished workpieces on an automatic lathe

The collecting attachment has a supporting lever rotatable about a pivot running horizontally as well as perpendicularly to the axis of the work spindle of the automatic lathe. A collecting tray is attached to the free end of the supporting lever. The supporting lever can be swung from an unloading position in which the collecting tray is remote from the work spindle into a collecting position in which the collecting tray is located directly below the finished workpiece carried by the work spindle. In order to design such a collecting attachment in such a way that the collecting tray can be put directly under the finished workpiece without having to accept restrictions in the motion space of the cutting tools and without there being the risk of the collecting tray running through the accumulation of chips, the supporting-lever pivot is displaceably attached in the horizontal direction so that the path of motion of the collecting tray is an ellipse, the large axis of which is at the same level as the axis of the work spindle.
