PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium that can be made to have a large recording capacity. SOLUTION: This optical disk as a medium is provided with a supporting layer (substrate 10) having an information signal part on a surface of a side on which a laser beam is made incident and a light transmission layer 12 forming on this supporting layer, and this disk is constituted so that when depth (t) of the light transmission layer 12 is t=3-177 μm in a range of the information signal part and dispersion of depth of the light transmission layer 12 is made Δt, relation of Δt<=5.26 (λ/N.A.<4> ) is satisfied between N.A. of an optical system reproducing or recording/reproducing this medium and wavelength λ, also when the track pitch is made to be P and skewness is made to be θ, a relation of P<=0.64 μm, also θ<=±84.115 (λ/N.A.<3> /t) is satisfied, also λ<=0.68 μand N.A./λ>=1.20 are satisfied, recording or reproducing is performed by such a recording and reproducing system and recording capacity 8 GB is realized. |
